Blueberry and Milk Chocolate Cornmeal SconesMy mom loves scones but she is very picky about them (ie. they have to be big and preferably with berries) and probably eats about one a day.  My mom has been asking me to make her scones for some time now, so I decided to make a batch for my boyfriend as a trial run for my mom.  The scones worked out well thanks to this unique recipe that calls for cornmeal and whipping cream rather than using butter.

The texture was moist and crumbly, the flavor was sweet and savory, and the good news is that my mom enjoyed them.  So I gave the scones to my boyfriend who also liked them because my mom would prefer a batch without the chocolate chips.  I only made a few changes to the recipe because my boyfriend loves chocolate so I omitted the orange zest and currants, and added 1 Cup milk chocolate chips and 1 Cup frozen blueberries instead.  I think when I make my mom's batch I will keep the orange zest and use frozen raspberries, blackberries, and blueberries.
